Welcome to Tigerlily Holistic

Frequent treatment can be the key to good results

Acupuncture is a process.  It is very rare for any acupuncturist to be able to resolve a problem completely with one treatment. The usual American model of treatment once every few weeks or once a month is primarily due to cost. Frequent treatment is much more likely to lead to relief. We will suggest a course of treatment, based on our experience with treating different kinds of conditions.  If you don’t come in often enough or long enough, acupuncture may not work as well for you. The purpose of our sliding scale is to help you engage with the process of treatment in order to get good results.

We treat in a community setting

In our clinic we use zero gravity recliners and massage tables grouped together in a quiet, soothing space. Treating patients in a community setting has many benefits: it’s easy for friends and family members to come in for treatment together; many patients find it comforting. This style of acupuncture allows patients to rest with needles for their own length of time. Treatment length depends on the individual. After a few sessions you will learn how much time your body needs. Some need only 20 minutes while others need a full hour. Many people sleep and wake up feeling well rested.

Let your practitioner know if you are running on a tight schedule and  need to be out at a certain time. In general, when you feel that you have finished your treatment, open your eyes and make eye contact with us. If you keep your eyes closed, we may think you are sleeping and won’t wake you.

Although we work in a community space, as medical professionals we will always adhere to standards of patient confidentiality, and have found that our patients are also extremely respectful. While we love seeing our patients out in the community, we will continue to respect your confidentiality and any social interaction will be purely up to you.

The communal environment require your flexibility. Sometimes people snore. If snoring bothers you, feel free to wear ear plugs or headphones. We ask for you to participate in making yourself comfortable.

About the sliding scale

We have a sliding scale of $60 - $800. You decide what you can afford, there is never any need to prove your income. We like to think of it as an honor system- a private treatment can be anywhere from $75 to $200 per visit. Please use your best judgement in evaluating how much you can pay in order to come on a regular basis.

The way we can make acupuncture affordable and still make a living ourselves is to see multiple patients per hour. Because we have a sliding scale, we cannot do insurance billing (that’s the insurance companies’ rule). If you have insurance and need a receipt, we’ll be happy to provide one.

We do not receive grants, state or federal money, or insurance reimbursement. Tigerlily Holistic exists because patients pay for their treatments – it is a sustainable community business model.. What you can do to help us is spread the word about our practice and fill our chairs!

Patient responsibilities

Tigerlily Holistic does not provide primary medical care. This model of business does not allow us to perform complete medical exams; whatever medical exam we perform will focus only on your complaints. If you have a medical issue that is complex or serious (for example, a serious infection, a tumor, or a wound that is slow to heal); please speak with you primary care physician. Even though we don’t diagnose serious diseases, we do offer treatments that help with grave illness. But we need you take responsibility for your own health.

The ambiance of the clinic exists because all of our patients contribute to its creation. To maintain this collective calm, we ask that you refrain from speaking too much in the treatment area. If you need more time with your acupuncturists, let us know. If you need a more extensive consultation, we can make an appointment to speak in person or over the phone.

Part of our clinic success depends on our patients learning the clinic routines and taking responsibility for their appointments. Scheduling your next visit and/or paying before your treatment so that you can relax and enjoy the session is always an option. Please bring all personal items to your seat. Please turn off your phone or put it in airplane mode (not vibrate.)

Please arrive on time for your appointment. We schedule visits every 20 minutes and we are normally running on time. Please note that cancellations within %{cancellation_period_in_words} of your appointment are subject to a cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 12 hours will be charged $40, and missed appointments/no-shows will be charged $60. Any arrivals later than 15 minutes past the appointment time are considered missed appointments, and are subject to our fee. The card on file through your Jane profile is subject to be automatically charged this fee. You can text or call us in order to reschedule your appointment, or with any questions regarding this policy.

Our Commitment to You
