We are slowly rolling out online visits on Jane; we have herbal consults, acupressure, reiki and guided stretches. We are still playing around with Jane, so just shoot me a text at 646-979-0708 if you have any questions or need guidance getting into the system. If you are an existing patient, you will still have to register as a new patient, and fill out new intake forms, however you will be able to book visits as a return patient.

We are getting in a new batch of Jade Screen Extra from BioHerbology in about a week. It's a tincture based on the classical formula of Jade Windscreen/Yu Ping Feng San, traditionally used to raise defensive wei qi in order to prevent pathogen invasion. We will also be receiving some sample sizes of Dewy Fruits, a stimulating lubricant for all those who are having fun indoors right now.

We are trying to get our services up online, while adjusting to our new covid-world reality at the same time. We will be listing telemedicine in a new software for us, Janeapp, as soon as we can. Services available will be Chinese herbal recommendations, self care strategies (there are some modalities that you can do at home, like qi gong, breathwork, gua sha, cupping and moxa that we can guide you through) and distance energy work like EFT and Reiki. If you feel like you need something specific, please let us know.
I highly encourage you to keep your bodies moving and lungs breathing, and to use this time to nourish yourself with healthy food and lots of sleep if you can. I know it's hard.
A word about healthy food. The acupuncture/Chinese Medical community is calling COVID a damp plague, which is a HUGE topic of discussion, and I could seriously talk all day about it. The main point that I would like to share is that we all have to revamp our diets on a long term basis to prepare our bodies to be less susceptible. No dairy, sugar, processed or fried foods. I admit, I have a mini mint Klondike bar on most afternoons these days, but I also drink ginger root tea all day long and put garlic in most of my food. It's about doing what you can to help your body function better.
If you need help exercising, there are lots of free or low cost exercise programs online right now. Let me know if you need help finding something that is right for you.

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided that we need to be closed during this initial time when we are flying blind through this pandemic. I know that many of us struggle with mental health and times will get very tough. I would love to continuing offer services however I feel that public safety is vital right now.
I encourage you to take time to stretch, open your windows and breathe fresh air, call a friend, cry, sleep, read. This morning I followed with a facebook live guided meditation with Marissa Sullivan; it helped. Daya Yoga, our wonderful neighbors, are moving their classes online and we will try to get some Tigerlily content up online as well.
In the immediate short term, please take care of yourself, and if you need some guidance, feel free to text us. Steph and I will be monitoring the inbox remotely. We can also direct you to others who may be able to help- Michael Kay is still seeing patients for the time being in East Williamsburg, and most of our herbalists will be setting up phone consults.
If you suffer from chronic lung issues, I highly recommend starting daily qi gong. These gentle, tonifying exercises are a way to build strength over time. Thank you to our teacher Peter Deadman for posting those. Qi gong and nei gong are internal martial arts that are fantastic for qi cultivation. Perfect for these stressful, trying times. Here is a video of a Nei Gong basic set, also by Peter Deadman. If you feel stuck and or in panic mode, try this video of the Huff n Puff breathing exercise. This is an amazing exercise that I frequently show patients. It can bring up a lot, so start for as short a time as you need. Don't push.

I haven't been able to check in with you yet, since we have been so busy trying to figure out what our place is in this epidemic. So far, we feel that continuing to boost immunity and lowering anxiety/stress levels is still a valuable service to provide. We will be limiting our hours and capacity in order to attend to you in a safer manner. Please be aware that we will be closing shifts that are under booked. Monday, March 16th, we will be closed.
If you would like to purchase anything please text ahead to make sure that we are open. We will be setting up a system to start phone consults with our team of herbalists, if you would like to set up an appointment to get a formula recommendation. Herbal medicine has been shown to be very helpful in managing covid-19 symptoms during the outbreak in China.
In order to best serve the community, we have instituted the following systems;
We ask that you:
Please wash your hands when you arrive in order to help prevent the spread of germs. We have hand sanitizer placed on the reception area front desk and throughout the clinic. Feel free to help yourself at any of those locations. When washing your hands, please wash for at least 20 seconds. If you use the sink in the restroom, please use your paper towel to turn open the bathroom door and then throw the towel in the trash can as you exit.
The main symptoms of Covid-19 are fever, coughing, and shortness of breath. However, due to the broad range of symptoms, please don't come in if you have any respiratory or gastrointestinal symptoms or if anyone in your household is sick. Call your primary care physician if you’re in need of medical attention. If you aren't sure, err on the side of caution. If you arrive for your treatment with any of these symptoms, we will ask you to leave immediately. If you do need to cancel an appointment for this reason, you will not be charged a fee. Please be considerate and let us know ahead of time if you need to cancel.
If you are immunocompromised or in a high risk category for the virus (older or with underlying health concerns), check with your doctor or medical provider to find out what their recommendations are for you. Please realize that despite our best efforts, we are still a public space.
Please don't come in if you have had contact with a known case or suspected case in the last 14 days.
We support anyone staying home to prevent a severe outbreak. So far, I am not aware of any confirmed case of Covid-19/coronavirus in our staff or patient community, but we know there are cases all over NYC. This is about lowering transmission so that hospitals will be able to adequately cope with the rate of sick patients.
What we are doing to limit transmission:
Linens are cleaned daily and all clinic surfaces are disinfected twice daily. We disinfect frequently touched surfaces (door knobs, light switches, sinks, toilets, front desk, etc.) every two hours. We are transitioning to disposable table paper and single use Heatsheet blankets. We encourage you to take your Heatsheet and bring it back at to your next treatment. We have taken down a treatment table and have patients spaced at least six feet apart, and are running HEPA filters at all times. We are using moxa more frequently to fumigate as well.
We follow CDC recommendations on hand washing.
I am researching online every day during this crisis and will be sharing important articles here and on our clinic's Facebook page. There are many ways to support yourself mentally and physically during this crisis, and I will be posting what I consider helpful tips. Remember that social distancing doesn't have to equal social isolation. We can use this time to deepen our relationships to each other through phone calls, texts and emails; sending love and support is vital to decrease our stress response. I plan to take this time to catch up on reading, making some good meals, start meditating, deepen my yoga practice and study of acupuncture and herbs.
